Is there a better description of the trump political strategy than universal deceit?
I was reading a poster today who mentioned that if trump can keep people convinced that he cares for them, he can do well, and that that’show Obama won.
trump — the con man manipulator reality tv performer — what else does he have but a con trying to convince people he’s screwing he cares about them (which also describes the Republican Party).
His ‘thank you’ touring of the US while not holding any press conferences, I suspect, is an indication of things to come — he’ll leave the governing to Pence and hsi presidency will be a PR presidency.
Which has begun with his tweets of lies about saving jobs and winning investment in America and protecting America from terrorism.
Sometimes, politics calls for diplomacy — such as the period between WWI and WWII to keep the peace, which failed.
Sometimes, with economic crashes, politics calls for economic reforms, as with the Great Republican Depression.
Sometimes, politics calls for war, as with the threat of Hitler.
Sometimes, politics calls for organizing for peace, as with Vietnam or preventing the Iraq disaster.
Sometimes, as with the out of control CIA and Watergate, politics calls for governmental reform.
Sometimes, systemic corruption calls for political reforms — as when the progressive movement was born or recent history with money in politics.
But the trump presidency politics, I suspect, calls for the revolution of telling the truth.
Not letting trump get away with demonizing Democrats, with claiming false victories, with spinning, and with convincing the people he cares about them.
It’s a war of media, propaganda, messaging. One in which we’re at a disadvantage, with #1 cable news Fox and the dominance of right-wing talk radio and a ‘both sides are equal’ press.
Look no further than the daily commentary by citizens about the ‘worst corruption ever of Obama’ and the ‘horrible economy of Obama’ and so on — before Republicans are even in power.
Telling the truth revolution.
