This diary is not planning to say anything to attack Hillary.
I’m a strong Bernie supporter. I think he has under a 1% chance of winning the nomination, and if she does I plan to vote for her and spend a lot of time arguing for people to vote for her.
But not to give her one cent.
Now, I think it is worth giving her campaign money. If that was the only question — do it. It’s justified by her being better, by the issues, by the need for citizens to give money when it’s in the system. So the objection to giving money isn’t anti-Hillary. It's not a protest against her. If you want her to win, you want her to win. So why do I plan to not give her one cent?
Because she and Bill personally have $153 million from big donors which she obtained because of her public service.
And every dollar I could give, she has that $153 million sitting in the bank, and she could use THAT.
And I’m not about to give her money when she could do that. But I’ll make an offer. If she spends $100 million of HER wealth on her campaign, leaving her with a healthy $53 million (and who knows how many millions MORE she can make after being president this time), I will donate. I’ll take that as her doing her fair part.
And I’m not planning to volunteer for her, though that, also, is justified, because that money could buy workers to do it, creating jobs. Why should I give her something if she won’t pay for it?
It’d be like my offering to go pick up her meal and deliver it to her house for free because she’d rather I did it than pay the delivery person when she has that $153 million.
So, voting for her and posting arguing for others to vote for her, yes. My money and volunteering, no, until she spends her $100 million first.
This isn’t snark. It’s simply making the point, I seriously think she should be using that money, gained from her being given power by the people, before asking people with a lot less to give her more.
I think her odds are good in November. But if she were to lose, I’ll look at HER if she didn’t spend that $100 million.
There won’t really be any point to a lot of Hillary supporters responding with hate for this point, but free speech if they want to do so. I’ll try to answer any reasonable comments.
