trump is waging war on the American presidency and American values.
I think that is the ‘frame’ we should suggest and discuss him in.
Every time his behavior is below the dignity of the office, every time his ignorance, his misguided views, his inappropriate comments to boy scouts and police forces have to be apologized for and disavowed, he is making the office of the presidency weaker and making our democracy that more dysfunctional.
And his constant comments against the public good, against our values on human rights, against the press, against democracy, favoring dictators all are assaults on our American values.
We need to be clear about how bad he is, and I think ‘war on the presidency and American values’ is the right frame for him.
It fits his statements and actions constantly and shows why he needs to be out of office.
Further, it reinforces what the presidency and American values SHOULD be and defends them under the assault. It’s a reminder to people not to normalize his behavior.
