There’s a political risk. I know it’s early.
Imagine somewhere during trump’s presidency, Republicans decide enough is enough over something and ‘dump trump’.
The political risk is that they come out looking like the ‘reasonable center’, between the ‘far left’ Democrats and trump. They look responsible for finally opposing him.
That creates a big ‘it’s safe to vote for Republicans’ message. Many voters LOVE to vote for that center.
That’s why we need to link the entire Republican party to trump all the time, as they jointly enact each others’ terrible agendas, and don’t let Republicans wiggle away from trump later.
Republicans love to do this cycle — promote a leader, then when their terrible policies get the public angry, disavow them. And trump will be easy for them to say ‘he wasn’t a REAL Republican’.
That’s the Republicans’ get out of jail free card, to try to evade the coming accountability for this disaster. We don’t want that.
